How your dollar works

Five lines.
One model, audited every year.

Every dollar donated to Usizo Wildlife Rescue flows through the same five categories. The split below is what Usizo Wildlife Rescue commits to, what the per-intake ledger traces against, and what the annual audit verifies — nothing else.

Sponsorship tiers

Where your donation goes, tier by tier.

Each tier is a named programme line — recurring support that helps provide care for residents as their needs change, rather than a promise that one amount pays for one fixed item each month.

$25 / month
Food & daily care

Recurring program-line support that helps provide the basics that keep every resident stable and comfortable day to day — nutrition, hydration, enclosure hygiene, and keeper welfare checks.

  • Daily species-appropriate feed rations prepared per animal
  • Fresh water supply and twice-daily enclosure hygiene
  • Keeper check-ins, enrichment activities, and behavioural observations
  • Weight and body-condition monitoring
$50 / month
Medical & rehabilitation

Recurring program-line support that helps provide hands-on clinical work alongside daily care — assessments, wound management, and medication that supports active recovery.

  • Daily-care support alongside the $25 program line
  • Veterinary consultations and clinical assessments
  • Wound care, suture removal, and infection management
  • Medications and supplements prescribed per animal
  • Rehabilitation exercises and progress tracking
$100 / month
Full-month comprehensive support

Recurring program-line support that helps provide daily care, diagnostics, emergency cover, specialist referral, and long-term planning for each animal's rehabilitation path.

  • Medical-care support alongside the $50 program line
  • Full diagnostic work-ups (blood panels, imaging where indicated)
  • Emergency after-hours veterinary call-outs
  • Specialist referrals and external laboratory fees
  • Long-term rehabilitation planning and behavioural integration monitoring
Where the money goes

The Usizo Wildlife Rescue allocation model.

Owned and leased sanctuary land, fencing, water, biosecurity, and infrastructure are ongoing operating needs; rescue, vet, and people costs recur every year the sanctuary holds animals. The reserve is insurance, not overhead — and the per-intake ledger reports supported work and allocations after intake where appropriate; no specific animal is promised in advance.

  • Rescue operations
    30%

Active pulls from poaching corridors — transport, the on-call vet for the first 14 days, and the quarantine paddock every new intake lands in.

  • Veterinary care
    22%

Ongoing medical work after triage: snare and gunshot surgeries, infection control, chronic wound care, and specialist referral when needed.

  • Retained wildlife managers & vets
    20%

Salaries for the full-time wildlife managers and the resident vet team — the people who handle the animals day to day, not an outside contractor pool.

  • Land & infrastructure
    16%

Operating costs for sanctuary land we own and additional land we lease, including environmental compliance, fencing, water reticulation, biosecurity, infrastructure, and the holding paddocks that make lifelong residency possible.

  • Financial reserves
    12%

Operating contingency for unplanned intakes and cost over-runs — never redirected to general overhead, never spent down on a healthy year.

How this is audited

An independent CPA firm reviews the annual 990 against the per-intake ledger. We publish the prior-year audit alongside every intake report.

What reserves cover

The 12% reserve is operating contingency for unplanned intakes and unexpected cost over-runs — never redirected to general overhead, never drawn down on a healthy year.

Where this model is published

The same five-line breakdown renders verbatim on the home page, in the donor-facing intake reports, and in the 990 narrative — so funders toggle between them and see one model.

Audited, then given

If the breakdown reads honestly, here’s where it lands.

Every contribution moves rescue, veterinary, and infrastructure forward at the same proportional split above — receipt emailed automatically, intake and supported work on the public ledger as sanctuary operations continue.
